Once injected, the PLLA microparticles are absorbed by the skin and stimulate collagen production. Sculptra works gradually, and you may need multiple sessions for optimal results.
What To Expect
During the consultation, you will discuss your goals and concerns with your medical provider. The medical provider will evaluate your skin and determine if Sculptra is an appropriate treatment for you. If you decide to move forward with Sculptra, you will be given specific instructions on preparing for the treatment. The Sculptra product is mixed with water and injected into the appropriate dermal plane, where strands of collagen support the skin structure. The treatment takes about 30 minutes to an hour.
After the treatment, the treated areas may look filled in or swollen. This is normal and should resolve within 1-2 days as the product is reabsorbed by the body.
